Vista on a Notebook

Hi,
I have installed Vista on one of my notebooks harddrive's and I cannot find any battery settings anywhere!
I have found power settings for sleep/power buttons and shutting the lid and advanced settings for each power scheme but when I take out the AC cable and run off battery, the screen brightness fades a bit lol, but no battery meter or owt lol.
Anyone else in same situation or have a solution? cheers,
-Nutty-

Have you checked the manufactuer's (you never mentioned the brand) website for a Vista compatible utility like the one provided for XP?

Not experiencing that here, Battery power is shown at all times, when it is plugged in or running solely on batter power in the notification area. Right click Taskbar > Properties > Notification Area (tab) > under "System icons" make sure "Power" is checked. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta "Marc Nutty" wrote in message

I thought the battery monitor etc. came with the laptops O/S?
I have never seen on my Dad's laptop anywhere in XP itself that tells you the power status... have only ever seen it on the 3rd party power program that came with the laptop.
